Wildcat Falls a Hidden Gem in Cleveland, SC

June 9, 2017 by bmullins Leave a Comment

Wildcat Falls, in Cleveland, SC is a hidden gem. If you are out looking at homes that the Brandt Mullins Family has for sale in the Travelers Rest Mountain Area, this is a side trip that you do not want to miss. As you drive up Hwy 276, you will pass through beautiful countryside. This landmark will be on your right hand side.Make sure you plug Wildcat Falls into your GPS or Google Maps-Geer Highway, Cleveland, SC 29635, Then listen very carefully to the directions. You will see several cars parked on a light sandy dirt path. You will also see a man and his wife in a white cart selling snow cones and boiled peanuts. There was a line when I got there.

When you walk up the pathway, you will hear the sound of the water before you even see the falls. You will also feel a cool mountain air brush across your skin. And then as you walk a little further up, you will see the first falls. The water fall cascades to a center point and fills up into a large pool of water. Lush greenery surrounds it on either side. In the fall months, the leaves would make this a picturesque paradise for a photographer. The water comes up to the knees of an average adult. This waterfall is perfect for swimming. There are several rock areas where you can sit and have a picnic lunch or just relax and enjoy the view.

If you walk up the rock steps to the left of Wildcat  Falls, there is a second set of waterfalls. Walk carefully up the steps because they are muddy and wet from the underbrush and the water from the pool area of the waterfalls. Then at the top of the steps, you will see the second waterfall. It is longer with a side waterfall that extends off of it on the left. As you walk across the rocks to get that “perfect” picture, be careful because the rocks are in the water. If you want the best picture, walk all the way across all the rocks to the big rock next to the waterfall. After you have taken a few shots, sit and relax for a few minutes.

This is a side adventure that you will want to come back to. So, enjoy your house hunting  with the Brandt Mullins Family and your relaxation time at Wildcat Falls.

Here are some items you might want to bring with you as you prepare for your trip to Wildcat Falls:

  4.  Picnic Lunch
